Veneer Choices

19 Nov 2012

In general, veneers are thin layers of restorative material placed over the surface of a tooth. They are used either to repair or improve the aesthetic appearance of teeth. There are a couple of kinds to choose from.

Composite Veneers

Composite veneers are created in the office, and can be done in one visit. However, they are not as effective as their porcelain counterparts. For one thing, they are more fragile and more likely to break. Their color is also not as stable, and will sometimes change over time.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are typically the best veneer option. To make for a better fit, we make an impression of your teeth and send it to the lab.

Porcelain veneers are beneficial for many reasons:

  • Natural appearance
  • Healthy—don’t harm the gum tissue
  • Brighter than their composite counterparts,
  • Versatile—effective in concealing most cosmetic flaws
  • Easy to maintain
  • Extremely durable
  • Stain resistant
